Nearly 140 areas in England have seen a rise in coronavirus infections since schools went back, according to new data.
Statistics show that, of the 315 monitored locations in the country, 137 have seen a surge in cases up to March 15.
When schools went back on March 8, the latest figures showed that 39 areas had experienced an increase in infections.
Experts have admitted that the decline in case rates is slowing, which could be put down to the return of pupils to classrooms.
But they added that this was to be expected.

Corby in Northamptonshire continues to have the highest rate in England after seeing a rise from 137.1 to 188.3.
Barnsley has the second highest rate, up from 142.6 to 182.7, with 451 new cases.
Hull has the third highest rate, up from 157.8 to 173.2, with 450 new cases.
The five areas with the biggest week-on-week rise are:
- Richmondshire (up from 31.6 to 106.1)
-
Rossendale (46.2 to 109.1)
-
Melton (50.8 to 109.4)
-
Corby (137.1 to 188.3)
-
North Lincolnshire (94.0 to 139.9)

Professor Tim Spector OBE, who is leading the ZOE Covid Symptom Study, said the increase is linked to schools returning and is "no reason to worry".
He said: "After steady falls at the beginning of the week, we've seen cases levelling off in recent days, especially in Scotland, Wales and the North-East of England.
"This is to be expected after reopening schools across the country and is no reason to worry.
"We’re keeping a close eye on cases in school-aged children and so far there’s nothing alarming about the data.
"I believe we'll see case numbers holding steady for a little while before cases drop again.”
All the data is calculated using Public Health England data published on March 18 on the Government's coronavirus dashboard.
