Covid infections rise in five areas of the Liverpool City Region

Positive Covid tests have risen in five areas of the Liverpool City Region.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, Knowsley, Halton, Sefton, Wirral and Liverpool recorded jumps in infections in the week ending September 2.

The percentage change week on week rises in these areas were 3%, 27%, 1%, 15% and 3%.

The only area of the city region that saw a fall was St Helens - the percentage change week on week drop was 8%.

The Liverpool City Region saw a percentage change week on week rise of 5%.

Warrington, West Lancashire, Cheshire West and Chester, all saw the percentage change week on week figures rise by 8%, 5% and 32%.

England had a fall in positive tests. In the week ending September 2, England had 178,285 coronavirus cases, which is 495 fewer cases than the week before.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 1,772 cases in the week ending September 2, which is 53 more cases than in the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change increased by 3%.

The latest infection rate was 354.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 548 positive tests over the last week, which is 117 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change increased by 27% in the week ending September 2. The latest infection rate is 422.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Knowsley

There was a total of 689 cases in the week ending September 2, which is 18 more cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 451.9 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases increased by 3% week on week.

Wirral

There were 1,079 positive tests in the week ending September 2, which is 137 more cases than in the previous week. Wirral's week-on-week percentage change increased by 15%. The latest infection rate was 332.7 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There were 546 positive tests in the week ending September 2, which is 48 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate was 301.5 cases per 100,000 people. The week-on-week percentage change decreased by 8%.

Sefton

There was a total of 986 cases in the week ending September 2, which is seven more cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 357.4 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases increased by 1% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 5,620 positive tests over in the week ending September 2, which is 284 more cases than in the previous week.

This means the week on week percentage change increased by 5%. The latest infection rate is 330.06 cases per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 433 coronavirus cases in the week ending September 2, which is 21 more cases than in the previous seven days.

This mean there was a week on week percentage increase of 5% in infections. The infection rate was 378.18 per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 681 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending September 2, which is 51 more cases than the previous week.

The week on week percentage figure increased by 8%. There was an infection rate of 325.22 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 1,407 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending September 2, which is 339 more cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 409.22 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage increase of 32% in cases.

England

In England in the week ending September 2, there was an infection rate of 315.27 per 100,000 people.

The nation recorded 178,285 coronavirus cases, which is 495 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week on week percentage decrease of 0.3% in cases.
