Covid infections drop in the Liverpool City Region

The Liverpool City Region has seen a fall in positive Covid tests.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, in the Liverpool City Region there were 5,009 positive tests in the seven days ending October 1 - 509 fewer cases than the previous seven days.

This means the percentage change week on week fall was by 9% in the Liverpool City Region.

Only one area of the Liverpool City Region recorded a rise in infections - the week-on-week percentage change increased by 28% in Halton in the week ending October 1.

The five other areas of the Liverpool City Region saw falls in infections: Knowsley by 7%; Liverpool by 13%; St Helens by 14%; Sefton by 12%; Wirral by 15%.

Cheshire West and Chester, and West Lancashire saw drops in both of their percentage change week on week figures. And Warrington recorded an rise.

England recorded a rise in positive tests in the week ending Ocotber 1. England had 188,975 coronavirus cases - that's 1,912 more cases than in the previous seven days.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 1,390 cases in the week ending October 1, which is 202 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This meant the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 13%.

The latest infection rate was 277.7 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 559 positive tests over the last week, which is 123 more cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change increased by 28% in the week ending October 1.

The latest infection rate is 430.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Knowsley

There was a total of 489 cases in the week ending October 1, which is 36 fewer case than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 320.8 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases decreased by 7% week on week.

Wirral

There were 840 positive tests in the week ending October 1, which is 146 fewer cases than in the previous week.

Wirral's week-on-week percentage change decreased by 15%. The latest infection rate was 259.0 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There were 658 positive tests in the week ending October 1, which is 103 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate was 363.3 cases per 100,000 people. The week-on-week percentage change decreased by 14%.

Sefton

There was a total of 1,073 cases in the week ending October 1, which is 145 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 388.9 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases decreased by 12% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 5,009 positive tests over in the week ending October 1, which is 509 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week on week percentage change decreased by 9%. The latest infection rate is 294.17 cases per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 376 coronavirus cases in the week ending October 1, which is 17 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

This mean there was a week on week percentage decrease of 4% in infections. The infection rate was 328.40 per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 841 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending October 1, which is 200 more cases than the previous week.

The week on week percentage figure increased by 31%. There was an infection rate of 401.63 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 1,340 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending October 1, which is 77 fewer cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 389.73 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage decrease of 5% in cases.

England

In England in the week ending October 1, there was an infection rate of 334.17 per 100,000 people.

The nation recorded 188,975 coronavirus cases, which is 1,912 more cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week on week percentage increase of 1% in cases.
