Covid infection rates are rising in 68 per cent of areas across England, figures show - as questions remain over unlocking on June 21.
Of the 315 local regions across the country, 213 have seen an increase for the seven days to May 29.
In the same time period, 92 - or 29 per cent - have seen a fall, while 10 (three per cent) remain unchanged.
Some scientists are urging the Government to delay the lifting of lockdown measures in England in 19 days over Indian variant fears.
But others have called for Prime Minister Boris Johnson to continue as planned - with zero deaths recorded on June 1.

Blackburn with Darwen in Lancashire continues to have the highest rate, with 653 new cases in the seven days to May 29.
This is the equivalent of 436.2 cases per 100,000 people, according to the PA news agency, and is up from 314.0 in the week before.
Bolton in Greater Manchester has the second highest rate, down from 450.7 to 371.8, with 1,069 new cases.
Rossendale in Lancashire has the third highest, up from 138.5 to 312.0, with 223 new cases.
Five areas with biggest week-on-week rises:
- Rossendale (up from 138.5 to 312.0)
- Blackburn with Darwen (314.0 to 436.2)
- Ribble Valley (29.6 to 151.1)
- Hyndburn (80.2 to 196.2)
- Salford (41.3 to 123.2)
The full list of areas, as seen below, has been calculated based on Public Health England data.
This was published on June 2 on the Government's coronavirus dashboard.
