Covid infection rates for all 32 Scots councils as Public Health Scotland confirms 33 new deaths

Another 2,823 Covid cases have been diagnosed in Scotland – with the nation's virus death toll also increasing.

Data has been published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland (PHS) this afternoon as part of the national Covid-19 daily briefing.

Nationally, there are 896 patients being treated in hospital which is down 39 from yesterday. There are currently 63 people with the disease being treated in ICUs.

The number of newly-reported positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran has rose by 278 to 46,415.

Of the new cases, 108 were from East Ayrshire, 105 in North Ayrshire and 65 attributed to South Ayrshire.

A total of 653,975 positive tests have now been recorded from 3.454 million tests carried out since the start of the pandemic.

According to Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, Clackmannanshire has the highest rate in the country – at 586.9 as of Wednesday, November 3.

Na h-Eileanan Siar has the second-highest infection rate at 483.0 while the Orkney Islands is third with 473.2.

In terms of Ayrshire's local authorities, East Ayrshire's rate is 469.6 and it is 336.7 in North Ayrshire. South Ayrshire's is 285.4.

A total of 13 of Scotland's 32 council regions have an infection rate below the national average of 324.5.

Those further 33 deaths mean 9,242 people have passed away since March 2020.

However, data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 11,672 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, October 31 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.

Across the UK, the figure is 141,181 as of last night.

There are 93 patients being treated for the disease in Ayrshire hospitals, which is down two on yesterday, and five in ICUs, which is a reduction of one from yesterday.

No update on vaccination figures has been provided so far today. Nationally, a total of 4,321,770 people had received the first dose of a Covid vaccine and 3,911,823 had received their second dose.
