COVID infection rate nearly halves in a week across Perth and Kinross

The COVID-19 infection rate in Perth and Kinross almost halved in just six days last week.

After a series of outbreaks in the region, the seven-day infection rate on March 19 peaked at 95.4 per 100,000 - the highest figure since February 2.

But by March 25 it had dropped to 49.4 per 100,000, according to Public Health Scotland.

There were 75 positives cases across the region in the week up to and including March 25 - a drop from 144 the week before.

The proportion of positive tests has also decreased from 4.1 per cent to 2.2 per cent.

Twenty-five of Perth and Kinross 's 35 neighbourhoods are considered to have suppressed the virus.

However, the North Inch area of Perth is still recording a seven-day infection rate of over 300 per 100,000.

Neighbourhoods recording between 100 and 199 cases per 100,000 are: Muirton; Blairgowrie West; Hillyland, Tullloch and Inveralmond; Central and South Inch; Letham; Milnathort and Crook of Devon.

Neighbourhoods with less than 50-99 cases per 100,000 people are: Guildtown, Balbeggie and St Madoes; Coupar Angus and Meigle; Bridge of Earn and Abernethy.
