A number of local authority area reported high coronavirus infection rates amid surging Omicron case numbers.
Public Health Scotland notes that 29,516 positive Covid cases were reported in Scotland in the weeks between December 8 and 14.
The seven day positive rate per 100,000 population in Scotland was 540.0 for that week.
West Lothian has the highest infection rate under this metric, with a weekly figure of 799.2 positive cases per 100,000 population.
Falkirk, East Renfrewshire, South Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire also had similarly high rates of Covid infection during this period.
The number of confirmed Omicron infections in Scotland stands at 792 - but the actual figure is said to be much higher.
Nicola Sturgeon said that 51.4 per cent of new daily cases recorded yesterday are suspected Omicron infections.
But despite a recent sharp rise in new cases, the number of hospital admissions is falling.
The Scottish Government said that 494 people are in Scottish hospitals after a positive Covid test - which is down from 555 recorded a fortnight ago.
Intensive care unit numbers have also fallen from 50 to 34 in the past two weeks.
But experts say that hospitalisations from new cases normally lags by around fortnight - so the impact the current wave could have on hospitalisation numbers may not be felt until next month.
Early studies have shown that the effectiveness of two doses of the vaccine drops when it comes up against Omicron.
Scientists are also investigating the possibility that Omicron may result in less or more severe infection compared to previous waves.
