Covid infection rate figures for every Scots council from Public Health Scotland

Another 3,261 people in Scotland have been diagnosed with Covid in the last 24 hours.

Figures have been published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland (PHS) this afternoon as part of the national Covid-19 daily briefing.

Nationally, there are 1,005 patients being treated in hospital while there are currently 79 people with the disease being treated in ICUs.

The number of newly-reported positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran has risen by 336.

Of the new cases, 136 were from South Ayrshire, 104 in East Ayrshire and 96 attributed to North Ayrshire.

According to Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, West Dunbartonshire has the highest rate in the country – at 699.6 as of Friday, September 24.

East Ayrshire has the second-highest infection rate at 616.8 while North Lanarkshire is third with 584.5.

In terms of Ayrshire's other local authorities, South Ayrshire's is 584.1 and North Ayrshire's is 502.8.

A total of 17 of Scotland's 32 council regions have an infection rate below the national average of 430.1.

There have been a further 18 deaths in the last 24 hours. Data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 10,826 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, September 19 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.

Across the UK, the figure is 135,983 as of last night.

Nationally, a total of 4,172,573 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine and 3,824,074 have received their second dose.
