COVID infected traveller diagnosed in NT

A returned traveller taken into quarantine near Darwin has tested positive for coronavirus. (AAP)

A returned overseas traveller has tested positive for COVID-19 while quarantining in the Northern Territory.

The woman, 31, arrived on the Commonwealth repatriation flight from India on Tuesday and was isolated at a re-purposed mining camp near Darwin.

She tested negative for the virus before travelling but positive at the Howard Springs facility, an NT Health said on Wednesday.

"The woman is asymptomatic and remains well," a spokesman said

She has been moved to an isolation room and is being cared for by medical teams at the camp.

This brings the total number of cases diagnosed in the NT to 35.

All the COVOD-19 infections have been related to international or interstate travel and there have been no cases of community transmission.
