COVID: Hospital admissions down but weekly case numbers stay above 2000

Lanarkshire recorded 2326 new coronavirus cases last week.

At the start of this week, the county's total cases rose to 97,159, an increase of 94,833 from the previous Monday.

There were 85 people in hospital with Covid, 22 fewer than last Monday. Of those 85, six patients are in ICU.

This compares with 107 people in hospital the previous week, when nine were in ICU.

Sadly, ten people across Lanarkshire died due to the effects of the virus in the last seven days.

With vaccine passports becoming mandatory as of this week it means people in Scotland must show proof of two vaccinations to attend large events and nightclubs.

And 89.4% of people in Lanarkshire over the age of 18 have had both of their vaccine doses.
