Covid-hit Thunder win toss, bat first

Three players are making their season debuts for the COVID-hit Sydney Thunder in the New Year's eve BBL clash with the Adelaide Strikers at Adelaide Oval.

Thunder captain Chris Green won the toss and elected to bat first in a match that only got the go-ahead from South Australia Health on Friday afternoon.

It's being played under strict protocols, which include Thunder players needing to remain separate from each other and the Strikers' team, after four members of their squad tested positive to Covid-19.

Batter Ollie Davies, spinner Arjun Nair and speedster Brendan Doggett all make their first appearances this season, replacing Alex Ross, Alex Hales and Tanveer Sangha.

The Strikers, desperate to snap a four-game losing streak, have made one change with Daniel Worrall coming in for fellow seamer Wes Agar.
