NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: Three markets and two communities in Pak Phanang district have been sealed off for at least seven days after hundreds of new Covid-19 cases were detected there.

Officials said Bang Wang, 100 Years and Wat Hu Long markets, as well as Moo 1 and Moo 3 villages were now in isolation.

Hundreds of new Covid-19 cases were confirmed there over the past three days.

On Tuesday alone, there were 265 new Covid-19 cases linked to Bang Wang market. About 1,000 people underwent antigen tests and about 200 of them returned positive for the disease.

Bang Wang is an old market in Pak Phanang district, with unventilated corners piled high with rubbish infested with rats and cockroaches.
