COVID forces delay to Tassie Supercars

Supercars have made the decision to delay the Tasmania SuperSprint event by a week following Queensland's COVID-19 outbreak.

The event, originally scheduled for the weekend of April 10-11 will now be held at Symmons Plains Raceway near Launceston on April 17-18.

Brisbane and surrounding regions was placed in a three-day lockdown from Monday evening by the Queensland Government after a breakout of COVID cases.

Several drivers and team members live in the affected regions including Red Bull Ampol Racing star Jamie Whincup.

The decision to postpone the event is hoped to avoid any issues surrounding travel restrictions for drivers and team members travelling from Queensland.

Organisers have assured those who have purchased tickets for the event that they remain valid and will be moved to the new dates.
