Covid figures remain high as 1,345 new cases confirmed

A further 1,345 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Ireland.

As of midnight on Friday, there were 105 patients being treated for the virus in hospitals nationwide.

Of these, 21 were in intensive care units.

The figures were released in a statement by the National Public Health Emergency Team on Saturday.

It comes just hours after new guidelines for the reopening of indoor hospitality were published.

Under new rules, businesses will now have to track the details of people’s vaccine or immunity status on one sheet of paper and a second and separate sheet of paper should be kept for 28 days with their name and number for contact tracing.

Customers will have their Covid cert digitally scanned which will prove they are fully vaccinated or recovered from infection at the entrance of a premises.

The official Digital Covid Cert will be the only document accepted.
