Covid ebb makes March safest month since 2019

PANCHKULA: March 2022 become the second safest month after November 2021, when there was no Covid death was reported in the district since 2019.

The number of active Covid cases also came down to four, much to the relief of residents. Data collected from Panchkula health department officials showed that there were 47 active cases in the district on March 1 but on March 31, there were only four. On March 20, active cases in the district sank below 10 and on March 28, there were just three active cases.

Fresh Covid cases also saw a major dip after March 20, with hardly one or two covid cases reported since then. From March 20 to March 31, there were six days when no fresh Covid case was reported. The case dip took place despite the high contact festival of Holi falling in this month. Health officials collected 15,816 random samples and samples of family members samples in the district. Only 90 tested positive the whole month.

This was in stark contrast to the beginning of the year, when 22 Covid deaths were reported in the district.
