Covid-denying salon owner shares 'lockdown party' pics and boasts of 'Tier free'

A Covid-denying salon owner boasted about living in 'Tier free' as she posted pictures of a 'lockdown party' on social media.

Julie Saunderson, who previously put up posters calling coronavirus 'bull***t', shared selfies and video footage from the bash on Sunday, the Liverpool Echo reports.

A clip shows around 20 people dancing and having fun at the event, ignoring social distancing and mask-wearing rules as loud music plays in the background.

It comes less than a week after the UK recorded its second highest daily increase in Covid deaths.

Ms Saunderson made the news in September last year when Covid-denying posters were spotted at her salon, Skin Kerr, in Bootle, Liverpool.

Now she is facing further criticism for uploading footage of a 'lockdown party' in the living area of an unknown property, with balloons and a large display showing '40' in lights.

Ms Saunderson posted the images to the Skin Kerr Instagram page, which has more than 5,000 followers, with the caption: "Tier Free. I will never be guilted enough by this Psy Op to stop living".

Mixing indoors with anyone not in the same household or support bubble remains banned under the national lockdown as deaths rocketed and hospitals desperately struggled to cope with Covid admissions.

After the Echo contacted Skin Kerr, in Aintree Road, Bootle, the post was deleted from the page.

Responding to a reporter, Ms Saunderson initially suggested the party was two years ago before adding: "Just kidding, do you not know me by now? I’ll sort you an invite next time."

When Skin Kerr first hit the headlines in September, beauty salons were allowed to open as long as social distancing and PPE guidelines were followed.

However she was visited by Environmental Health officials from Sefton Council after sticking up the posters which stated Covid was "bulls**t", said "no masks" and suggested "you can't catch what doesn't exist."

In October, Sefton Council ordered the salon to close and argued they were putting customers and staff at risk of infection by not following public health guidance. They later allowed the salon to reopen after a discussion with Ms Saunderson.

Ms Saunderson found herself in hot water again after the second national lockdown was imposed in November - vowing on the Skin Kerr Instagram page it would stay open.

The post said: "We will not be locking down again. We will remain open. We will fight this and any fines in a common law court."

Merseyside Police attended the salon on November 9, and Ms Saunderson was later issued with a fine for remaining open.
