COVID death toll revealed as Perth and Kinross figure reaches grim milestone

The number of people in Perth and Kinross who have died from COVID-19 has now risen to 90.

Seven people in the region had the virus on their death certificate between November 23 to 29.

The figures were released on Wednesday by the National Records of Scotlkand.

Last week's Perth and Kinross figure is the highest over seven days since March.

However, the infection rate is continuing to fall with data from Public Health Scotland suggesting an infection rate in Perth and Kinross of 101.3 per 100,000 in the week up to and including November 28, with 154 positive cases in that time.

That is compared with a rate of 107.9 and 164 cases the week before.

Perth and Kinross is currently in level three of coronavirus restrictions and will remain there for at least another week.
