Covid daily data delayed by six hours after 'technical difficulty'

The daily coronavirus figures are delayed by six hours because of "technical difficulties".

Throughout the pandemic Public Health England (PHE) has produced comprehensive breakdowns of the coronavirus figures at 4pm everyday.

However it revealed today an issue with processing the deaths across England meant the data had not been released.

A note on the PHE website said: "Because of technical difficulties in processing England deaths data, today's update is delayed."

It did however confirm 31,795 new coronavirus cases were recorded today (July 24).

There have now been 46,519,998 people to receive the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

There have also been 36,953,691 second doses of the coronavirus vaccine given out.

It is not yet known when the detailed coronavirus figures will be released today.

As of yesterday, 129,044 people had died within 28 days of receiving a positive coronavirus test. There were also 153,070 to have had covid-19 recorded on their birth certificate.
