THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A high-level meeting chaired by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday to assess the Covid-19 situation in the state decided to allow those who have taken one dose of vaccine also to enter movie halls.
The film industry has made such a demand as many Malayalam films are ready for release. However, preventive measures like social distancing and using masks will have to be followed strictly and the health department officials have been instructed to ensure it, Vijayan said.
The meeting also decided to allow 100 persons to participate in events like marriages, funeral-related functions, political, religious and cultural functions if held indoors and 200 persons if held outdoors.
80% attended school on first day
It concluded that the reopening of schools had evoked a good response and 80% students attended school on the first day.
The chief minister said doctors should examine students reporting health issues as this could allay Covid fears. Sectoral magistrates will be deployed only on the basis of need.
Students in eighth, ninth and 10th standards of technical schools will be allowed to attend school for general workshop and practical training.
Practical classes can be allowed wherever required, the meeting decided.
Parents have been urged not to believe rumours about other diseases. Instructions have also been given for appointment of employees in the health sector on a daily wages basis in case of shortage.
