Covid cops acting on intelligence prevented a wedding party from going ahead at a home in Wythenshawe.
When officers arrived at the home they found a gazebo had been erected in the garden, police tweeted.
It meant they were able to prevent the 'illegal gathering' from going ahead.
The full GMP tweet, put up on Friday evening, said: "Earlier, GMP's Covid-19 compliance operation received intelligence regarding a wedding party in Wythenshawe.
"Police attended and found that a gazebo had been erected in the garden of a property.
"Officers prevented the illegal gathering before restrictions were breached."
In Manchester, wedding receptions and celebrations, including for up to 30 people in the form of a sit-down meal, cannot take place.
This is due to local lockdown restrictions brought in to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The government guidelines state that in parts of the country with extra lockdown restrictions such as Manchester "wedding celebrations should not currently take place in these areas – unless they are limited to people who live together (or are in the same support bubble), or a group of up to 6 people outdoors."
Just last week, fines were issued by police after around 100 people were found at a wedding party in Bolton.
