Covid cases Scotland: 677 cases reported overnight as vaccine rollout to begin tomorrow

A total of 677 new coronavirus cases have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours.

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed the latest figures at Monday's daily briefing, as she was joined by the Health Secretary Jeane Freeman.

The new figures represent 6.7 per cent of those who were tested for the virus on Sunday (December 6).

Out of the new cases, 114 were in the Lothians, with a further 178 in Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

103 were in Lanarkshire, with the remaining cases split across the other eight mainland health boards.

The figures come as 11 council areas in level four are due to come out of the restrictions this week, with the new levels to be announced tomorrow.

Edinburgh has also been recommended to move down to level two, however it has not been confirmed yet as to whether this will be the case.

Hospital figures showed 974 patients are currently being treated across the country, an increase of 23 from Sunday.

59 people are in intensive care, a decrease of 3 from yesterday.

Sadly, the First Minister also stated that an additional one death has been registered.
