Covid cases down to September levels in Lanarkshire as tier four lockdown continues

pNew coronavirus cases in Lanarkshire fell in the first full week of level four lockdown./p pAt her daily press briefing in Edinburgh on Monday, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed there had been just 49 new cases in Lanarkshire on Sunday - the lowest daily tally since September./p pHowever, Ms Sturgeon did say that a technical issue with the way Covid-19 cases are reported mean the figures are artificially low today and may be over the next day or so./p pAs a result, last week there were 1156 new Covid-19 cases in the region - a 27 per cent decrease on the previous week./p pWeekly case numbers are now down by almost 60 per cent since peaking at 2719 in week beginning October 19./p pLast week was the first full week since the Scottish Government moved Lanarkshire into the top tier of coronavirus restrictions in a bid to reduce the #x201C;stubbornly high#x201D; prevalence of the virus in the region before Christmas./p pFollowing the decision to move Lanarkshire to level four from Friday, November 20, the region is set to remain under the toughest restrictions until December 11./p pIn total, 19,462 people in Lanarkshire have now tested positive for Covid-19 and 629 people in the region have died after testing positive./p
