Egypt’s Health Ministry urged the importance of committing to precautionary measures, wearing facemasks and social distancing, at a time when COVID-19 cases are on the decline.

It called on people to register to receive the coronavirus vaccine through the dedicated online platform, stressing that all shots are effective and safe and approved by the relevant authorities.

The Ministry on Thursday confirmed 81 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total to 283,490. Fatalities climbed to 16,425 nationwide after the ministry announced seven new deaths. Recoveries have risen to 221,516.

The Ministry added that all vaccination centers will be closed on the Day of Arafat and the first day of Eid al-Adha across the country. Work will resume on the second day of Eid.

More than 429 centers are available throughout the country, it added.

Eid is expected to begin on Tuesday.
