Covid cases at the University of Nottingham continue to fall significantly

Fewer than 100 cases of Covid have been reported at the University of Nottingham for the last three days in a row.

Despite a slight uptick on November 9, when 13 new cases were recorded, numbers at the University have continued to fall from 90, to 79 and then 83 active cases in the most recent three day period.

Active cases are defined as staff and students who are still in the self-isolation period following a positive test result.

Currently, 61 students and 18 members of staff at the institution are known to have the virus.

A spokesperson for the University of Nottingham said: "The number of active cases of Covid-19 continues a downward trend, reducing by 95 percent since October, to leave a total of 79 active cases at the University.

"Of this total, there are 61 active cases among students. Active cases among staff remain low at 18 cases."

Figures here are drawn from a total student population of 35,000 and staff population of 10,000.

To deliver fast access to coronavirus testing on campus, two NHS walk-in testing stations are based on University Park Campus and Jubilee Campus. Appointments are bookable online and facilities are open to staff, students and members of the local community.

The University has also developed an in-house testing service specifically designed to tackle asymptomatic transmission and counter the hidden spread of Covid.
