BHOPAL: An all-time low, two, Covid-19 positive cases were reported in the state on Thursday. But experts say Covid-19 is not over yet.
Covid-19 cases have been going down in the state and there were only 42 active cases in the state as on April 14, amid the news of new XE variant of Covid-19 which is a variant of the previous Omicron that had led to the third wave of covid-19 in the country, experts say that there is nothing to be scared of, but precautions should be in place.
“Covid-19 is not over yet, but it doesn’t mean that we should stop all work, economy study is also important. However, basic precautions like wearing mask, ensuring hand hygiene should be adhered to,” former director AIIMS Bhopal, professor Dr Sarman Singh told TOI.
He added, “The new variant is considered to be more contagious but information available so far says that it has not been seen as very severe till now. Mortality has also not been reported, but it is a fact that virus will continue, so adopting to precautions is a must. People with comorbidity are vulnerable to even common flu, so there is no escape. So far we have been able to eradicate only few viruses like polio, others have remained, so there is no, no to precautions. Cases of new variant have been reported from places like China, Honkong, and even Thailand”.
