Covid cases among staff close popular Ayrshire bar BUF Prestwick

One of Ayrshire's busiest bars has closed its doors following positive Covid cases among staff.

Bosses at the BUF Prestwick confirmed this lunchtime they were taking the decision to "voluntarily close for a while".

It follows the positive test results for a "small number" of the venue's team.

A post on the bar's Facebook page read: "We are sorry to announce following a small number of our team testing positive for COVID we have decided it is in the best interests of staff and customers to voluntarily close for a while.

"This will allow staff to get tested and isolate if required.

"We are currently awaiting guidance from EHO and working closely with Health Protection Scotland and Test and Protect.

"We will be in contact with everyone who has booked with the next few days to arrange refunds.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to welcome you back to the BUF soon."

Ayr venue The Ghillie Dhu announced it was taking similar steps at the weekend following a member of its staff testing positive.
