Covid cases across Lanarkshire remain high with area still worst-hit in Europe

Lanarkshire's Covid-19 case numbers continue to record more than 1000 positive cases each day.

The latest figures show that 1071 people tested positive on Friday, 1017 on Saturday and 1078 on Sunday.

This takes the seven-day total for the region to 7430 and the overall positive Lanarkshire cases to 76,222.

There was also an increase in hospital admissions, with 112 people now hospitalised, compared to 98 on Thursday. Ten of these patients are in ICU.

There were no Covid-related deaths recorded yesterday. However, over the last week, there have sadly been seven Covid-related deaths in Lanarkshire.

93.7 per cent of the population aged 18 or over have received their first dose of the vaccine, with 87.4 per cent having received both doses.

Lanarkshire is also still the worst-hit areas in Europe, according to WHO.

The seven-day incidence of 1127 cases tops the list, followed by Glasgow with 1079.
