Covid case surge in Kerala: Karnataka govt to ramp up testing at borders, says CM Basavaraj Bommai

BENGALURU: Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said that the state government is closely monitoring the situation following a rise in Covid-19 cases in Kerala.

"There has been a spurt of Covid cases in Kerala and we have three border districts. The state government will increase testing, tracing and tracking with more emphasis in border districts of Mysuru, Kodagu, Chamarajnagar, Dakshina Kannada," said Bommai.

He added that the deputy commissioners have been told to be alert and make stringent measures.

"They have been asked to prepare medical facilities. I will have a detailed meeting on this matter when I will be back," said Bommai.

The CM arrived at Delhi airport on Friday morning to attend a meeting scheduled with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
