An employee at a second IRT aged care facility in the Illawarra has tested positive for COVID-19.
IRT chief executive Patrick Reid said the fully vaccinated staff member worked at the company's Links Seaside Aged Care Centre at Wollongong during their infectious period.
"We have implemented our outbreak management plan," Mr Reid said.
"[We] are working with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District and other health authorities to ensure all necessary protocols are in place, including staff and resident isolation and infection control measures.
Deadly cluster grows
It comes as the IRT grapples with an outbreak at its Tarrawanna Aged Care Centre, where another two residents tested positive for the virus on Monday.
A total of 24 residents and four employees have been linked to the Tarrawanna cluster, which claimed the life of a man in his 90s on Friday.
Six of the residents remain in Wollongong Hospital.
"We recognise this is a concern, however we have been prepared for the risk of this happening for some time and our actions have been swift," Mr Reid said.
"The majority of staff working at the centre are also fully vaccinated and those who have had their first dose will soon complete their schedule of two doses by October 25."
