Covid case confirmed at Bristol school - students self-isolating

A number of students at a Bristol school have been sent home to self isolate - after a classmate tested positive for Covid.

Leaders at Bedminster Down School wrote to parents last night (March 23) to inform them a student in year 11 had tested positive for coronavirus..

A number of students in year 11 have been told to self isolate - parents of children who need to do so have been contacted.

The school, part of the Wellsway Multi Academy Trust, is working with Public Health England.

In a letter home to parents from principal Debbie Gibbs and chief executive Andrea Arlidge said: “We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within Bedminster Down School in our Year 11 group.

“We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

“As a result, some children in Year 11 have been asked to self-isolate. We will keep this under review.”

The mixed secondary on Donald Road has also issued advice to parents on what to do if their child develops symptoms.

Last week, a number of year seven students at the school were asked to self isolate after a single positive test in the year group.

Schools across England reopened on March 8 as a stage in the roadmap out of lockdown.
