A COVID-19 outbreak has been confirmed this evening at one of Ayrshire's biggest caravan parks.
A "handful" of staff at Craig Tara holiday park, in Dunure Road, have tested positive for the virus, site owners Haven said.
Insiders had claimed that a number of employees on the site's hospitality team had been affected – but this has not been confirmed.
A Haven spokesperson told Ayrshire Live: "We are aware that a handful of our over 600-strong team members at Craig Tara have recently tested positive for COVID-19.
"These are isolated cases, but as a result, we have a number of other team members currently self-isolating in line with guidance from NHS Test and Protect.
"We have fully complied with the procedures and they have confirmed the risk to holidaymakers and owners is low.
"All bookings continue to be fulfilled and we are running all areas of the park as usual."
The site operators also said they have taken a "number of steps" to ensure that the safety and security of their guests, owners and team remains its "number one priority."
The spokesperson added: "We work closely with our local environmental health officer and currently sit on several different professional, industry-leading groups to ensure our protocols and ways of working remain relevant and up to date."
Holiday parks in Ayrshire are expected to be busy this summer as people opt for staycations – providing a huge boost to the local economy and tourism in the region.
