COVID-19 Vaccine Ireland: Roadmap emerges as Government TD confirms when each person should get jab

Ireland's full vaccine timeline has emerged as a TD confirmed when each member of the country is due to get the jab.

Minister of State for Public Procurement Ossian Smyth shared a graphic showing that everyone who wants a vaccine here will be offered it by September, according to the current predictions.

The Green Party TD stressed that this is dependent on the expected future authorisation and supply of certain vaccines.

The full priority list released from the Government at the end of last year showed which groups will get the jab first, and who will have to wait until the end.

At the top are people over the age of 65 in long-term care facilities, as well as staff at these homes, followed by frontline healthcare workers.

Finally at the bottom of this list are people under the age of 18 and pregnant women, with the penultimate category anyone between the age of 18 and 54 who does not fall into any of the previous groups.

And according to the latest timeline, all 700,000 people in the first three cohorts will receive the jab by March. This includes residents over 65 and staff in long-term care facilities, frontline health workers, and everyone over the age of 70.

The group of 1.8 million people will receive their vaccine between April and July.

This cohort includes other healthcare workers, those aged 65-69, keyworkers, people aged 18-64 with chronic illnesses, other residents in long-term care, workers in crowded environments, education workers and people aged 55-64.

Finally, 1.9 million more people will then receive the jab between July and September, and this includes everyone else not yet vaccinated.
