Covid-19 vaccine: 88% completed 1st dose, 60% 2nd dose in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: Eighty-eight per cent of eligible people have taken one dose of Covid-19 vaccine and 60% of the people have taken two doses in the Union territory of Puducherry.

Fifty-one per cent of children aged between 15 and 17 have taken a dose of Covid-19 vaccine. The territory has administered 6,728 precaution doses to the beneficiaries as of Friday. The directorate of health and family welfare services has arranged 1,945 isolation beds, 1,464 oxygen beds and 171 ventilator beds at various facilities. As of Friday, 1,730 isolation beds, 1,301 oxygen beds and 125 ventilator beds are vacant.

The territory reported 855 fresh Covid-19 cases even as 2,604 patients recovered in the last 24 hours ending at 10am on Saturday.

A 62-year-old man from Puducherry and a 76-year-old man from Karaikal died of the infection taking the death toll to 1923. Healthcare authorities have so far administered the first dose to 9.2 lakh people, the second dose to 6.04 lakh and the precaution dose to 7,061.
