Health authorities will administer the first COVID-19 vaccinations today, Health Minister Greg Hunt has said.

The initial vaccinations will come before the start of Australia's national rollout of the vaccines against coronavirus on Monday, the largest program of its kind in the nation's history.

Mr Hunt told ABC program Insiders two aged care residents, critical aged care staff, frontline workers, the Chief Medical Officer, the Chief Nurse and Prime Minister Scott Morrison would be among people receiving a vaccination on Sunday.

Border and quarantine staff, vaccination teams, aged care residents and workers, and emergency and intensive care workers will be among the first to receive the free Pfizer jab from Monday.

Frontline workers will be the first in the ACT to get the vaccine as the territory receives about 1000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine for the first weeks of the territory's vaccine rollout.
