PALAKKAD: Though Tamil Nadu has withdrawn the Sunday lockdown and relaxed Covid-19 restrictions across the s state, their officials are keeping strict vigilance in Walayar and 10 other inter-state check posts along the Palakkad border.
The Tamil Nadu officials said that since the Covid-19 virus is widespread in the neighboring states including Kerala, strict vigil will be kept along the borders before allowing people to Tamil Nadu. The restrictions will continue for some more days, the Tamil Nadu officials said.
At present, the officials of the Departments of Health, Police and local self governments are jointly conducting inspections at the border. Now people from outside the state are allowed entry in to Tamil Nadu if they have taken both the doses of the Covid-19 vaccine or conducted the RT-PCR test.
But like earlier, those who are not coming with these documents will not be sent back but allowed journey after collecting details of their travel and return, said the officials of the Tamil Nadu district administration.
2,718 affected while 2,121 recover in Palakkad
As many as 2,718 tested Covid-19 positive and 2,121 recovered from the virus in the district on Monday. 2,596 persons contacted the disease through local transmission. Source of infection of as many as 38 persons are unknown. 81 Health Department workers and three persons who had come from abroad also tested positive, the Health Department officials here said.
