Covid-19 reopening roadmap: All the details you need to know after Leo Varadkar announces new roadmap

Leo Varadkar has urged people to take "personal responsibility" when restrictions are eased.

The Covid-19 recovery roadmap has been re-phased, and most things will be moved to Phase 3 on June 29.

The Taoiseach has urged people not to enter a place if it's packed, to leave a place if you've been there too long and to wear face masks on public transport or in supermarkets.

"Understand that we have to treatment or vaccine for this virus and until such time as we do, we'll be living a very different type of life," he said.

Other major changes to the roadmap include:

  • All sporting activities can recommence on June 29 - this includes team leagues for adults and children. Sporting events will take place "with very limited" numbers of spectators.
  • Mass gatherings allowed from June 29 - they will be limited to 50 people indoors and 200 outdoors, rising to 100 indoors and 500 outdoors from July 20.
  • Churches, hairdressers, cinemas, theatres and gyms will reopen on June 29.

Mr Varadkar referred to the past few months have been the toughest in the country's history but added "as a country we got through this without giving in to despair".
