Covid-19 rates in West Dunbartonshire rise fractionally above Scottish average

Covid-19 rates across West Dunbartonshire have risen fractionally above the Scottish average.

The latest data published this afternoon, which covers the seven days to April 22, shows an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases locally from 15.7 per 100,000 to 29.2 per 100,000.

Test positivity remains at 1.4 percent however, well before the five percent threshold outlined by the World Health Organisation for having the virus under control. Figures peaked at more than 270 cases per 100,000 locally during winter.

Reporting five new cases (a rate of 91.9 per 100,000 people) Dalmuir is the worst hit area in the locality, with Leven posting the highest rates locally - reporting four new cases over the last seven days - giving it a rate of 80 cases per 100,000.

It is followed by Kilpatrick (61.8 per 100,000), with the virus is classed as ‘suppressed’ in the other 15 neighbourhoods of the local authority, meaning that fewer than three positive cases have been recorded over the last seven days.

Across Scotland meanwhile the seven day rate sits at 29.2 cases per 100,000 - a slight increase from the 28.9 per 100,000 recorded as the Lennox went to print last week.

Test positivity also remains low, at 1.4 percent, with this figure having not been above WHO’s five percent figure since February 22.
