Covid-19 outbreak at Dublin apartment complex confirmed after residents tested

An outbreak of Covid-19 has been confirmed in a Dublin apartment complex after the HSE offered residents free tests.

People living in Dolphin House in Dolphin's Barn, Dublin 8, were offered free testing after a cluster of cases was identified in the block.

Tests were carried out at the Dolphin House Community Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

A letter to residents, seen by Dublin Live, urged locals to continue to follow the public health advice and avail of the free tests after a "small number of Covid cases" were confirmed in the area.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness caused by a new virus. Symptoms range from a mild cough to pneumonia (BPS)

A HSE spokesperson confirmed to Dublin Live that, while they do not comment on individual cases, that "HSE Public Health and partners are currently dealing with an outbreak of Covid-19 in an apartment complex in the Dublin area."

They continued: "HSE Public Health have communicated to the local residents and Covid-19 testing is being provided.

"Any persons that have tested positive and their close contacts are being followed up and appropriate supports are being made available."
