Covid-19 Northern Ireland: Two further deaths and 129 new cases

There has been two further deaths as a result of Covid-19 according to the Department of Health.

The department's daily dashboard says that there has been 129 new cases of the virus in the past 24 hours and 641 in the past seven days.

There have now been 573 people who have passed away as a result of Covid-19 following the two most recent deaths.

Since the start of the pandemic, 8,631 people have tested positive for the virus.

Belfast has seen the largest increase in new cases in the past seven days, with 168. This is followed by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon with 95 and Antrim and Newtownabbey with 72.

Belfast has also seen the largest increase in new cases in the past fortnight, with 380.

People aged 20 to 39 have seen the largest increase in infections in the past week, with 264 new cases. This is followed by people aged 40 to 59 with 160 and those aged 0 to 19 with 130.

There are currently 21 inpatients in hospital infected with the virus and three patients are in intensive care. Two patients are on ventilators.

There are 25 confirmed Covid-19 outbreaks in care or residential homes and eight suspected ones.

To date, 294, 514 people have been tested for the coronavirus
