Covid-19 Northern Ireland: Three further deaths and 877 new positive cases

There have been three further deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, according to the Department of Health.

The department's daily dashboard shows that there has been 877 new infections in the past day, with 6,161 positive cases in the past week.

A total of 21,035 people have tested positive for Covid-19 since the outbreak began.

Following the three further deaths, the death doll in Northern Ireland now stands at 591, says the DoH.

There are currently 140 inpatients in hospital with the virus and 22 patients are in intensive care.

The Belfast area has seen 1,554 new cases in the past week, followed by the Derry City and Strabane area with 1,463.

To date, 411,361 individuals have been tested for the virus.
