Covid-19 Northern Ireland: Six further deaths recorded by Department of Health

There have been six further Covid-19 related deaths recorded according to the Department of Health, with three occurring in the past 24 hours.

The department's daily dashboard says that the death toll from the virus in Northern Ireland now stands at 1,135.

In the past 24 hours there have been 486 new positive tests, bringing the total number of people infected with coronavirus to 59,121.

In the past week, there has been 3,292 new infections.

Mid and East Antrim have recorded the highest number of new cases in the past seven days with 416, followed by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon with 400 and Newry, Mourne and Down with 388.

There are 444 inpatients in hospital with the virus, with 413 being admitted in the past 14 days. During the same period 486 patients were discharged.

There are 33 patients in intensive care with Covid-19 and 24 are using ventilators.

There are 87 active Covid-19 outbreaks in care and residential homes.

To date, 615,478 individuals have been tested for the virus.
