Covid-19 Northern Ireland: 461 new positive cases in the past seven days

There have been no further deaths as a result of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours according to the Department of Health.

The department's daily dashboard says that there has been 58 new positive tests for the virus in past day, with 461 new cases in the past week.

There have now been 7,245 people who have contracted the virus since the outbreak began.

560 people have died as a result of the virus.

Belfast has seen the largest increase of new cases in the past seven days, with 135 positive tests. This is followed by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon with 91 and Antrim and Newtonabbey with 50.

Belfast has also seen the largest increase in infections in the past fortnight, with 223 new cases. This is followed by Mid and East Antrim with 140 and Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon with 105.

1,748 people have tested positive for the virus in the Belfast area.

There are currently 17 inpatients in hospital who have tested positive for the virus and two patients are in intensive care. Two patients are also on ventilators.

1,578 people have been admitted to hospital with the virus and 15,45 have been discharged.

There are 15 confirmed Covid-19 outbreaks in Northern Irish care homes and six suspected ones.

To date, 229,227 people have been tested for the virus.
