Covid-19 Northern Ireland: 354 new positive cases in the past week

There has been 47 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours according to the Department of Health.

The Department's daily dashboard says that there have been no further deaths as a result of the coronavirus, which has led to the deaths of 559 people in Northern Ireland.

In the past week there has been 354 new positive tests for Covid-19, which has infected 6,823 people since the outbreak began.

The Mid and East Antrim area has seen the largest increase of cases in the past week with 86, followed by Belfast which has had 77. The Antrim and Newtownabbey area has had the third highest increase with 41.

Mid and East Antrim has also seen the largest increase in the past 14 days with 166 new cases. This is followed by Belfast with 151 and Antrim and Newtownabbey with 77.

Belfast has had the highest number of cases since the outbreak began with 1,625, followed by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon with 794.

There are currently 10 inpatients in hospital with virus and there is one person in intensive care.

1,558 people have been admitted to hospital with the virus and 1,532 have been discharged.

There are currently 12 confirmed Covid-19 outbreaks in care homes across the country and five suspected ones.
