Covid-19 Northern Ireland: 11 further deaths reported by Department of Health

There have been 11 further Covid-19 related deaths, with seven of these taking place in the past 24 hours according to the Department of Health.

The department's daily dashboard says there have been 79 new positive tests, bringing the total number of infected in the past seven days to 2,452.

However the department says that the number of laboratory completed tests were lower than normal and may be subject to change.

The death toll from the virus in Northern Ireland now stands at 947, says the DoH.

Belfast has had the highest number of new infections in the past seven days, with 437, followed by Armagh City, Bandbridge and Craigavon with 318 and Mid-Ulster with 287.

The 40 to 59 age bracket has had the highest number of new cases in the past week, with 697, followed by the 20 to 39 age bracket with 690.

There are currently 445 inpatients in hospital with virus.

A total of 37 patients are in intensive care with Covid-19 and 29 are using ventilators.

To date, 50,143 people have tested positive for the virus since the outbreak began.
