Covid-19 NI: 13 further deaths reported by Department of Health

The Department of Health has reported a further 13 coronavirus related deaths.

The death toll in Northern Ireland now stands at 1,196, according to the DoH.

Sunday's dashboard update reports a further 505 positive cases of the virus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 61,942 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department says 3,816 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 421 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and 30 in intensive care.

A number of Government ministers have called for an emergency Executive meeting on Sunday over Covid-19 restrictions.

A formal joint request for the meeting has been submitted by Minister for Justice Naomi Long, Minister for Finance Conor Murphy and Minister for Infrastructure Nichola Mallon.

It is understood that Minister for Health Robin Swann has also written to the First Minister and Deputy First Minister calling for an urgent meeting.

It remains unclear whether the DUP has agreed.

In a letter seen by PA news agency, the three ministers raised concerns about the more infectious coronavirus variant found in England.
