Covid-19 Ireland updates: 8,039 new cases confirmed with 885 in hospital

A further 8,039 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Ireland.

Of these, 4,347 are positive antigen tests registered on the HSE portal yesterday.

There are 885 in hospital and 76 in ICU.

The figures were confirmed by the Department of Health this evening.

The HSE have reminded people with a weak immune systems to arrange to get their booster jab.

They said: "The HSE would like to remind all those with a weak immune system aged 16 and over that they can avail of their booster dose, at least three months after their additional vaccination dose, in line with NIAC guidance.

"It is important that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 if you have a weak immune system (immunosuppressed or immunocompromised).

"Having a weak immune system puts you at higher risk of serious illness if you get COVID-19.

"Getting vaccinated will give you some protection against this."
