The number of people with Covid-19 in hospital has soared over the past two weeks – up by almost 60%.
But admissions to intensive care are remaining stable.
Yesterday morning there were 957 in hospital with the virus which had risen by 62 from the same time on Saturday – the highest it has been in two months.

On Sunday, February 27, there were 603 Covid patients meaning there has been a 58% rise.
Although numbers are high, those in ICU remained at 41 over the weekend.
Dr Eoghan de Barra, an Infectious Diseases consultant in Beaumont Hospital, explained cases with severe illnesses due to the virus are much fewer.
He said many of those in hospital are there due to other serious illnesses.
He said: “Just because there is so much of the virus around, they happen to have it very mild or even asymptomatic covid illness but have other reasons to be there.
“There are some individuals for whom it is a mild illness and may have other conditions and it just tips them over into needing hospital care.
Over the weekend, Taoiseach Micheal Martin said the current spread of Covid shows more people need to get boosted.
