Covid-19 Ireland: Healthcare workers and over 60s can get walk-in booster vaccines in Dublin this weekend

Healthcare workers and people in their 60s can attend walk-in Covid-19 vaccine booster centres around the capital this weekend.

Anyone who got Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca must be deemed fully vaccinated for at least five months before getting their booster.

And anyone who got the single-shot Janssen vaccine must wait three months.

Dubliners who qualify for a vaccine can go to any of these centres:

The HSE is encouraging everyone to avail of their booster dose as a way to get the best protection from any serious illness caused by the virus.

Healthcare workers over 30 years old will be offered a single dose of a Pfizer or Moderna.

And if they're 29 or younger, they will be offered a single dose of Pfizer. They can get these vaccines even if they got a different type of vaccine the first time around.

If a person had Covid-19 since being vaccinated, they should get their booster dose at least six months after their positive test result.

HSE chief Paul Reid warned that anyone attending the clinics need to ensure that they are eligible for a booster.

He told Newstalk: “Throughout this weekend and into next week … What we are starting to do now is a combination of specific walk-in availability times in specific centres for those between 60 and 69 and also healthcare workers.

“So, we will have a number of appointment-driven centres and equally we will have specific times so what I would say to your listeners is to look at HSE.ie, you will see the sites specific to you.

“What I would stress is, it is really important, if you are coming forward for a walk-in at a designated site, that you are in the eligible criteria - so you are in the age group - but you are also at least five months after receiving your second dose.”

Reid highlighted that people who are not eligible will be turned away.

“Look at the HSE.ie site and be sure of your own eligibility coming forward – but ultimately, as of this morning, there are now 630,000 of the boosters complete across those and 76,000 for the immunocompromised."

Information on times and locations of the walk-in vaccination centres is available here. And for more information you can log on to hse.ie.
