Covid-19 Ireland good news: One county's efforts show, vaccine hope and rapid testing

As Ireland nears the halfway point of lockdown there are some positive signs emerging each day.

Ireland's Covid incidence rate is plummeting by the day and efforts in each county are being rewarded.

Meanwhile, on an international scale, there are plenty of positive signs that a vaccine could soon arrive while rapid testing is looking more and more like a helpful solution.

Here's a look at some of the good news regarding Covid-19 at the moment;

Leitrim leading the way

Amazingly, Leitrim has recorded just nine cases in two weeks and is leading the charge in the battle against Covid-19.

The small county has by far the lowest incidence rate in Ireland and could be Covid free in the very near future.

Many other counties are also seeing significant dips in their rates with lockdown working wonders.

Covid vaccine update

A Covid-19 vaccine could be just weeks away as companies ramp up manufacturing.

Over in the UK, hospitals have been told to get ready for a vaccine in three weeks time, according to the Daily Mail.

Many vaccines are nearing completion with optimism that their will be multiple available in 2021.

Rapid testing

Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan said that testing measures at Irish airports should be in place by December 1.

While this is expected to be a big development in terms of future travel, the Green Party leader said now is not the time for Irish people to be planning their Christmas trip home.
