Three areas saw another jump in new coronavirus cases as 720 further infections were reported across the country.
Health officials confirmed this evening that five more people have sadly died from Covid-19.
It brings the total number of Covid-related deaths in Ireland to 1,890 since the outbreak began.
However there is some good news, as a number of regions that had been badly hit by the pandemic are now reporting far fewer cases.
Donegal, which was the epicentre of the outbreak here for a time, has reported just seven further infections today.
While Cavan, which recently saw a skyrocketing incidence rate of cases per 100,000 population, recorded just 18.
